Shri Jagannath - Snana Yatra

On this day (the birthday of Lord Jagannatha) the deities(Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannatha) are brought to the Snana Bedi (bathing platform), the deities are bathed with 108 pots of rituallypurified water. King Indradyumna arranged this ceremony for the first time when the deities were first installed. 

This is an auspicious event for the devotees and simplywatching the bathing events and/or devotees bathing of Lords provides pardonsfrom sins and attain liberation. In the evening, at the conclusion of thebathing ritual, the Gajapati (King of Puri) performs ceremonial Cherra Pahnaraand Lords Jagannath and Balabhadra are dressed up as Lord Ganesha (Gaja Vesha).
